Popcorn Bridges the Healthy-Indulgent Snack Gap

Snacking trends continue to move toward more healthy options, but studies continue to show consumers seeking less healthy and more indulgent snacks as well. Snack options like popcorn allow consumers to choose a better-for-you option while still getting a salty or sweet treat.   

For example, Food Business News states, "Thirty per cent of Americans claimed to typically only snack on healthy foods,and 45% said nutritional value is the most important factor in foods they eat. However, consumers still want to indulge now and then, Packaged Facts said,and when possible they will seek out healthier or better-for-you versions of their favorite sweets." 

And yet, Foodmanufacturing.com cited a study done by Packaged Facts that indicated that salty snacks sales increased 3.5% to reach $22 billing in 2015, and is projected to grow 4% from 2015-2020 indicating that indulgent and traditional salty snacks are still popular with consumers.  So how do you as a retailer help your customers bridge the gap between what they want and what they say they want?  Popcorn!  Popcorn is often touted as a high fiber and whole grain snack, and can be either salty or sweet.  We offer both varieties, from classic flavors like Buttered, White Cheddar and Lightly Salted to gourmet flavors like Butter Toffee Almond Crunch, Honey Macadamia Crunch, and Pecan Cinnamon Roll Crunch to help you give your customers what they're asking for!
