Global Extruded Snacks Valued at $50 Billion in 2016
Research and Markets February 2017 report indicates that the “global extruded snacks market reached a value of around US $50 Billion in 2016, growing at a CAGR of around 3% during 2009-2016!
Extruded snacks are made by forcing a grain flour mixture through a die at high pressure which expands and shapes the product - some examples of grain flours commonly used are: corn, wheat, rice, tapioca and potato. Many super-foods and ancient grain flours are also being used to increase the nutritional profile of the products.
Extruded Snacks are a growing and evolving segment, due to the customization of extruded snacks - both in ingredients and shapes. Our number #1 selling product, Golden Caramel Corn Nuggets, is a great example of an extruded snack, with our Simply Puffs line extension as an example of flavor profile variety. And with snacking only continuing to rise with consumers, extruded snacks are forecasted to keep expanding - especially when coupled with convenient packaging and healthier nutritional profiles.
